Gap Insurance Most cars depreciate as soon as they are purchased. If your vehicle is stolen or damaged beyond repair (considered at total loss), you are still liable for the difference between the insurance companies settlement and your loan balance. This is considered a Gap. Gap Insurance is a low cost coverage that pays the difference between your insurance settlement and the loan balance. The credit union is happy to be able to offer you Gap Insurance available through CUNA Mutual Insurance Group.
